Chapter 2581
experts had reached the point of being an overwhelming force.
"Mr. Cruz, please arrange speople to clean up the scene. I need to hunt down Warrick." Jaxon stepped forward and spoke briefly.
Follow on sunniworlds.blogspot.comAfter giving his orders, he led the Draken Guardians away, leaving behind a field of corpses and a stunned enforcement team.
Those who made it into the enforcement team were elite warriors chosen from a pool of hundreds. Each of them had exceptional combat skills and had triumphed in countless battles against overwhelming odds.
But after witnessing the Draken Guardians in action, they realized there was a clear gap even among elites. If they were one in 100, the Draken Guardians were one in 10,000.
"Mr. Cruz, is this what the Draken Guardians are like? They're on a whole different level, aren't they?" exclaimed one of the enforcement team members as he stared at the Red Legion soldiers' bodies.
Just moments ago, they had been locked in a fierce battle with the Red Legion, but the Draken Guardians had ended it in seconds. The gap between them was staggering.
"Only one or two hundred people were selected from hundreds of thousands of Black Dragon Army soldiers. Of course they're strong." Axel took a deep breath, retracted his gaze, and said helplessly," Stop staring. There's nothing left for us to do here. Clean up the mess." With the Draken Guardians dispatched, the task of capturing Warrick was no longer Axel's responsibility. For the enforcement team, though, their mission was an absolute failure.
The manhunt continued throughout the night. By dawn, every last Red Legion squad that had scattered in the chaos had been rounded up. Not a single one escaped.
As the first light of dawn broke over the castle courtyard, Austin sat under the magnolia tree playing a gof chess by himself.
Two maids stood nearby, holding lanterns to illuminate the board. Occasionally, a fragrant magnolia blossom drifted down, adding to the serene atmosphere.
Then the sound of hurried footsteps.
The maids looked up to see Axel and a group of enforcement team members marching into the courtyard while escorting three captured Red Legion rebels.
"Your Highness." Axel dropped to one knee and placed his fist on his chest in salute." The resisting Red Legion forces have been eliminated, and the remaining rebels have been captured. These are three of their assistant generals. Your Highness, what is your decision on them?" Austin didn't look up from the chessboard. His voice was calm as he asked, "Where's Warrick?" "Sir Prescott and several of his soldiers are still at large. Right now, General Steele is tracking them down." Axel lowered his head. “Tonight's operation was a complete failure, Your Highness. I take full responsibility and await your punishment." "He managed to escape even after being dosed with Tranqurin. He's more capable than I gave him credit for. This isn't your fault. Get up." Austin placed a white piece on the board, his expression unreadable.
"I dare not, Your Highness. I have failed in my duty." Axel remained on his knees and didn't dare to raise his head.
Just as families had their own way of doing things, the military had its code. No matter the reason, failing to capture Warrick was Axel's mistake. For that, he deserved to be punished.
Follow on sunniworlds.blogspot.com"Since you enjoy a beating so much, go receive 50 lashes," Austin said coolly.
"Thank you, Your Highness." Axel let out a quiet sigh of relief.
Without punishment, he wouldn't feel at ease. Now, at least, he could put the matter behind him.
Austin spoke again. "There's something else I need you to do after your punishment." Axel lowered his head again. "I await your command."
"I've heard that Prescott estate is quite extravagant, with treasure piled high. Take the troops and raid the place. Artest the guilty, lock up the criminals, and enforce the law to the letter. Everything must be handled impartially," Austin ordered. "I understand, Your Highness." Axel rose to his feet and left.
Austin finally set down his chess piece and turned his gaze to the three traitorous assistant generals bound before him. He asked coldly, "How long have you served under Warrick?" The three kept their heads down and said nothing.
"I'm giving you a chance to live. The first one to answer my questions will be spared. "Austin's face was unreadable.
The assistant generals exchanged uneasy glances, and their expressions were a mix of hope and suspicion. "Your Highness... Do you really mean that? "the assistant general on the left, Auron Repa, asked cautiously. "Shut up! Are you planning to betray Sir Prescott?" the assistant general in the middle, Viggo Bloom, snapped. Before he could say another word, a member of the enforcement team stepped forward and slapped him hard across the face.
"The choice is yours. It's up to you if you want to believe it." Austin took a sip from the teacupX" patience is limited. I'll only give you 30 seconds to consider. After that, even if you want to talk, I won't care to listen."
Chapter 2582
Austin's words were calm and almost casual. Yet, they struck like thunder and echoed in the hearts of the three assistant generals of the Red Legion.
If they answered Austin's questions, there might still be a slim chance of survival. But if they refused, death was the only outcome. 3 After all, who would willingly choose death when they had worked so hard to achieve their wealth and status? Yet, pride and dignity held them back. They didn't want to be branded as traitors.
Now, they were caught in a dilemma. Which was more important-their honor or their lives? It was an impossible choice.
"You have ten seconds left. If you don't speak, you'll lose your chance." Austin's voice was utterly devoid of emotion.
His words seemed to pierce their souls, and the three Red Legion assistant generals broke into a cold sweat.
As the countdown neared its end, Auron finally couldn't hold back. "Your Highness! I'll talk-I'll tell you everything." Dropping to his knees, he scrambled forward and was desperate to speak before the others could.
Follow on sunniworlds.blogspot.com"Traitor! Go to hell!" Viggo roared in fury. With a burst of strength, he snapped the ropes binding him and slammed his palm down on Auron's skull.
A sickening crack echoed through the room. Auron's head exploded like a watermelon, with blood and brain matter splattering across the floor.
"How dare you!" The enforcement team reacted instantly. They drew their swords and pressed them against Viggo's throat to restrain him.
Viggo laughed maniacally. "Go ahead and kill us. We'll never betray Sir Prescott." Austin took the handkerchief from the maid and wiped the blood splattered on his face. His expression remained indifferent. " So, you think that makes you a man of principle?" "What's there to fear? Death is just a small price to pay." Viggo raised his chin defiantly. His face was filled with arrogance. "Besides, I've lived a good life. I've eaten, drunk, and enjoyed myself. Even if I die now, I have no regrets." "Really?" Austin's lips curled into a cold smirk. “If you're not afraid of death, then I'll show you something worse than it." He waved his hand and ordered, "Take him to Grimhold Keep and serve him well. Let's see how long he lasts under the 108 tortures there." As soon as the words were spoken, Viggo's face paled.
He had heard of the notoriety of Grimhold Keep. It was no place for any man to be. Even the toughest men broke once they were sent inside. A single round of punishment was enough to make them confess everything.
If Viggo was thrown inside, survival was impossible. Grimhold Keep was a place where death was preferred, but even that mercy was denied. The thought of what awaited him sent a shiver down his spine, and cold sweat ran down his face.
Rather than endure such torment, he'd rather seek a quick end.
With that thought, a flash of resolve passed through Viggo's eyes. He lunged forward and thrust his throat straight at an enforcement team member's sword.
Having learned from their previous encounter, the enforcement team members were prepared. They quickly withdrew their blades, stepped back, and expertly restrained him while pinning him to the ground.
To ensure he wouldn't try anything else, they snapped his arms and legs before binding him tightly and dragging him away.
"What would you gain by torturing me? If you've got the guts, just kill me. I dare you. "Viggo thrashed and screamed. His voice was a mix of hysteria and fear. But his struggles were futile.
"Putting on a brave face, huh? Do you really think you're skind of tough guy? "Austin sneered.
If Viggo weren't afraid of death, he wouldn't have been captured. When they were surrounded last night, he had two choices-fight to the bitter end or take his own life to preserve his honor. That was the mark of a true man.
But this guy? He got caught, refused to die, and still had the nerve to preach about morality. He was nothing but a hypocrite.
Follow on sunniworlds.blogspot.comIf Viggo hadn't known he was about to be thrown into Grimhold Keep, he'd probably be giving spassionate speech and trying to earn a reputation for loyalty and courage.
The three captured Red Legion assistant generals-one dead, and another was on his way to Grimhold Keep. The last one, Elion Trevane, kneeled on the ground. He was trembling and broke into cold sweat.
He didn't want to die. And he certainly didn't want to end up in Grimhold Keep. He had only followed orders from Connor and Dave to rescue Warrick. He never imagined things would escalate this far, nor did he ever consider himself a rebel. Elion had parents to care for, a wife, and two young children. His life had been full of promise, but now everything had changed.
Being labeled a traitor wasn't just a death sentence for him-it would bring disaster to his entire family. His parents, his wife, his children, and even his relatives and friends would suffer the consequences. What could he do? What should he do? Elion's heart pounded like a drum, and his body shook as if caught in a storm. He had always thought himself a brave man, but faced with the reality of death, fear consumed him.
"You're the last one left. Do you have anything to say?" The devilish whisper sounded in his ears.
Elion stiffened. His face had gone ghostly pale as he slowly looked up, and spoke in a hoarse voice. Y-Your e Highness... know I can't escape punishment. I don't ask for mercy for myself. But if you spare my family, I'll tell you everything." "You're a sensible man." Austin nodded with satisfaction. "Then, let's not waste time. Where is Warrick's hideout? Tell me, and I'll let you live." Elion lowered his head in shame. "I... I'll talk.” For his family's sake, he had no choice but to betray Warrick.
Chapter 2583
After a night of chaos, sof the Red Legion's members were killed, others were captured, and the entire force had been wiped out.
But the fallout didn't stop there. The Prescott estate was also raided. All embezzled wealth was confiscated, and those found guilty were thrown into prison.
Anyone connected to the Prescotts was placed under house arrest and subjected to rigorous investigation. And the man behind it-Warrick-had becthe kingdom's most wanted fugitive.
Until he was captured, Celestria remained under lockdown. Major roads were sealed off, and patrol teams scoured every corner to ensure Warrick had no way out.
Austin's crackdown sparked outrage among senior officials who didn't know the full story. They voiced their dissatisfaction, with seven gathering outside the castle gates in protest. They stomped their feet in outrage, just short of openly cursing him.
To them, Warrick had made great contributions to the nation. Even if he had committed crimes, he didn't deserve to be executed.
The entire situation had spiraled into chaos, with raids and a city-wide manhunt causing a storm throughout the city.
"This is ridiculous. Locking down the city at the drop of a hat wastes resources and manpower. What will outsiders think of us? "one of the elders shouted.
Follow on sunniworlds.blogspot.com"He's right! Even if Mr. Prescott is guilty, he should stand trial. But why use vigilante justice? This is a farce!" "I always knew that brat lacked integrity, but I never expected him to be this unruly and vicious. He'd wipe out entire families over the slightest offense. If West Lucozia ever falls into his hands, we're doomed." Outside the castle gates, a group of elderly men in their 70s with gray hair gathered, gesturing and grumbling among themselves.
As royal advisors, they could no longer tolerate Austin's abuse of power. If they stayed silent, they would be failing their duty.
Besides, they didn't take him seriously. To them, he was nothing more than a spoiled, impulsive brat-unworthy of comparison to his father, Rufus.
With Rufus now bedridden, these elders saw it as their responsibility to rein in his wayward son.
Just as their heated debate dragged on, the castle gates suddenly creaked open. Axel, flanked by members of the enforcement team, stepped out with a cold, unreadable expression.
"Mr. Cruz, what the hell is going on? Do you have any idea how much a single day of lockdown costs Celestria?" One of the elders, a man with a ruddy nose, stepped forward and demanded harshly.
His nwas Langdon Rhys. He was a high-ranking official and a distant relative of the royal family through the Rhys bloodline.
By seniority, he could be regarded as Austin's uncle. As far as he was concerned, his status gave him the right to speak his mind.
"That's right! Locking down the city and hunting down a respected general isn't schild's game. We demand an explanation." "Tell Lord Austin to cout! We're not leaving until we get answers." The other elders joined in. Each one putting on a show of righteous indignation.
Axel remained indifferent as he said, " Gentlemen, please calm down. Lord Austin has prepared tea in the reception hall. He awaits your presence." The unexpected response caught them off guard. They had assumed Austin would keep hiding behind closed doors like a coward. Instead, he had invited them in.
For a moment, they were all unsure of what to make of the situation.
"Mr. Langdon, what do you think?" The elders exchanged glances before turning to Langdon. He outranked them all in status and seniority, and he was also Austin's elder. Naturally, they would follow his lead.
"Since Lord Austin has invited us for tea, we should accept the offer. Let's go in." With a flick of his sleeve, Langdon stepped inside first.
As a frequent visitor to the castle, he knew Austin well. No matter how unruly the other party was, Austin wouldn't dare to overstep with him.
"Let's see what's going on in there." The others hesitated for only a moment before following close behind. As royal advisors, they lived by loyalty and integrity. When necessary, they were willing to risk their lives to do what was right.
Led by Axel, the group marched into the reception hall. Inside, the table was already set with tea and refreshments.
Austin sat at the head of the room. His expression was unreadable, giving away neither joy nor anger.
"Un them.
Follow on sunniworlds.blogspot.comLangdon, you're here. Have a seat." As soon as the group entered, Austin immediately got up to greet "Hmph." Langdon didn't bother with pleasantries. He made no effort to hide his seniority and took the most prominent seat to Austin's left.
The other officials followed his lead and sat down one after another.
o'm None of them bothered with pleasantries or greetings. Instead, they sat stiffly with a grim face, as if they had cto collect a debt. "Uncle Langdon, what pressing matter brings you here with an entourage?" Despite their attitude, Austin remained unfazed and continued to smile.
"Austin! Tell me, why did you order the arrest of Sir Prescott? And why did you lock down the city?” Langdon fired off his questions without pause.
He continued, "Do you have any idea that because of your reckless actions, the entire capital is in chaos? How many citizens are living in fear? How many companies have been forced to halt their business? Can you even take responsibility for these losses?" Austin raised an eyebrow, then calmly took his seat. “Are you here to discuss personal matters or official business?" "And what if it's both?" Langdon said with a straight face.
"If it's personal, then I'll respect you as my elder and you have every right to lecture me." Austin's gaze suddenly sharpened.
He went on, "But if it's an official matter, then you'd better remember your place Who is the ruler, and who is the subject? Do you think you have the right to sit while speaking to me?"
Chapter 2584
“Are you even qualified to sit while speaking to me?”
Austin’s words struck like the blow of a hammer. They were sharp and unrelenting, and they left no room for
retort.
Langdon sat frozen and was momentarily speechless. He hadn't expected a brat like Austin to have such a sharp
tongue.
If he admitted he had cfor personal matters, he would keep his pride intact, but he would lose control of the
conversation. Everything he had prepared -and all the accusations he meant to throw-would be meaningless.
But if he insisted it was official business, he would have to show proper respect and offer a formal greeting. No
matter how he answered, he would be conceding ground.
“I'll ask one more time. Are you here on official or personal matters?” Austin asked coldly.
“O-Official matters.” Cornered, Langdon barely managed to get the words out.
“Well? Is this how an official conducts himself?” Austin pressed.
Langdon had no choice but to rise and offer a deep bow. “Your Highness, it’s an honor to stand before you.”
The other royal advisors quickly followed suit, and their earlier arrogance vanished as they stood and paid their
respects.
Axel watched the shift unfold and couldn't hide his admiration.
Austin truly lived up to his reputation. He was sharp-witted and strategic. With just a few words, he had these
cunning officials completely outmaneuvered.
“Uncle Langdon, no need to be so serious. | was just having a little fun.”
One moment, Austin was cold and distant, but the next, he was warm and approachable.
Follow on sunniworlds.blogspot.com“Con, everyone, have a seat. Don’t be so formal.”
Seeing how quickly Austin changed his attitude, Langdon and the other royal advisors exchanged uncertain
glances.
“I wouldn't dare, Your Highness. I'll just stand.” Langdon’s face was grim, and his voice was strained.
He had been in government for years, but never expected to be outplayed by Austin, and the thought didn’t sit
well with him.
“As you wish, Uncle Langdon.”
Austin didn’t press the matter. He sat down casually, then looked at Langdon with a wry smile. “So, why are you
here?”
“I...” Langdon began, but he found himself at a loss for words.
He had stormed inside with righteous fury and was ready to denounce Austin. But after being thrown off balance,
that fire had all but sputtered out. Now, he couldn’t even muster a stern word.
“What's wrong?” Austin raised an eyebrow. “Cat got your tongue, Uncle Langdon?”
Langdon exhaled slowly and gathered his thoughts. “Your Highness, the city is under lockdown, and people are in
a panic. | must ask-what exactly has happened to warrant such drastic measures?”
“To catch a traitor, Of course,” Austin replied calmly. “I issued an official notice this morning, and everything is
clearly stated there. Did none of you bother to read it?”
“An official notice?” Langdon frowned. ” What notice? Why haven't we heard about this?”
“You've all been busy with your own affairs, so it’s understandable if you missed it,” Austin said evenly. “I'll have
copies delivered to your homes later so no one will be uninformed.”
Seeing the conversation veering off track, Langdon quickly interjected, “Forget the notice. Just tellwhat
crdid Sir Prescott commit that justifies this chaos? Did you really need to turn the entire city upside down?”
“Exactly! Sir Prescott has done so much for West Lucozia. Even if he made a mistake, does that justify
confiscating his properties and sentencing him to death?” one royal advisor chimed in.
“If Prince Rufus were here, he wouldn't stand for this recklessness, nor would he allow you to throw Celestria into
turmoil,” another added.
With Langdon leading the charge, the other royal advisors followed suit and voiced their protest.

“That's right. Sir Prescott is a loyal and honorable man. How could he possibly be guilty of such crimes?”
“It seems that you have been misled by slanderous rumors, Your Highness. Sir Prescott is being wrongfully
accused.”
“To execute a loyal servant without cause is an affront to justice. Your Highness must revoke the arrest order and
clear Sir Prescott’s name.”
The royal advisors erupted in protest, and their voices rang with righteous indignation.
To an outsider, it looked like Austin had made a big blunder.
Chapter 2585
Austin sat in his chair and silently watched the royal advisors put on their pretentious act. He slowly sipped his tea as if he couldn't be bothered by their so-called accusations.
His nonchalant demeanor made Langdon and the others frown. Their once-outrageous voices began to falter. They had stormed in full of righteous fury earlier, only to be met with complete apathy. What was the point of arguing when he wasn't even listening? "Are you done?" Austin finally spoke once the room had quieted down. “If not, go ahead and keep talking. Say as much as you need to until you're satisfied." "Your Highness, we're here to discuss serious matters. Your dismissive attitude is truly disappointing," Langdon said sharply.
"Serious matters?" Austin let out a short laugh.
He went on, "You barge in here without even understanding the full picture and spewing accusations like they're facts. As far as I'm concerned, you're no different from clowns putting on a show." "You... How dare you!" Langdon was visibly enraged.
His expression darkened. "The prince personally appointed us as royal advisors, so we have the authority to challenge injustice. Your abuse of power and persecution of loyal officials is unacceptable-both morally and legally. We have every right to protest." "That's right. We demand justice for Sir Prescott," the royal advisors echoed.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Protest? Justice?" At those words, Austin suddenly laughed as if he had just heard the most ridiculous joke in the world.
"What's so funny?" Langdon asked grimly.
"I'm laughing at your ignorance, your stupidity, and your self-righteousness." As Austin laughed, his expression suddenly turned cold. "What makes you so sure Warrick is innocent? And what makes you think I made the wrong judgment? "Without understanding the full truth, you blindly condemnwhile defending a man guilty of unspeakable crimes. Tell- are you foolish, or are you complicit?" "We don't see the so-called justice you speak of. We only see the fear, the disorder, and your unchecked authority," Langdon retorted.
"Oh? Then, I'll let you see the truth with your own eyes." Austin waved a hand. "Axel! Bring out all the evidence. Let these so-called defenders of justice see for themselves who the real villain is." "Yes, Your Highness," Axel responded.
He immediately laid out all the prepared evidence on the table. Every crwas recorded in detail, and this was only what had been documented. There were countless more left unreported.
"If you're not blind, read it for yourself," Austin said coldly. His patience was wearing thin.
These old fools weren't just corrupt but were irredeemably stupid. Anyone with a shred of sense wouldn't have chosen this moment to stir up trouble.
"How is this possible? Did Sir Prescott really commit all these crimes?" "This is outrageous! Even the wildest rumors wouldn't conjure up something this outrageous." As the royal advisors flipped through the pile of evidence before them, they exchanged uneasy glances and their brows furrowed in concern.
The crimes listed weren't minor offenses like corruption or bribery-they were atrocities that had cost hundreds of lives, with countless others indirectly affected.
Just the photos and records alone were enough to send chills down their spines.
They had their own share of wrongdoing, but their sins paled in comparison to what lay before them.
Warrick's actions were nothing short of monstrous. If these crimes were true, then their efforts to defend him would make them accomplices to his evil.
Follow on mediaurdu.blogspot.com"Well? Do you have anything to say now?" Austin sneered.
The royal advisors exchanged glances, but no one dared speak. If Warrick was truly guilty of such heinous acts, even the boldest among them wouldn't dare speak in his defense.
"No! This can't be true." Langdon's face darkened as he finished reading the evidence, but he stubbornly held his ground.
He continued, "Where did you even get this so-called evidence? Sir Prescott has always been loyal and honorable. There's no way he would commit such atrocities. This must be a setup-someone is trying to frhim." Several royal advisors nodded in agreement.
To them, Warrick was a war hero who had dedicated his life to serving the country and its people. While they could accept that he might have made mistakes in the heat of the moment, the idea of him being responsible for such cold-blooded crimes was unthinkable. Perhaps, they reasoned, this was the work of external forces trying to sow discord within West Lucozia.
NS "Langdon Rhys!" Austin's gaze turned razor-sharp. "The evidence is right in front of you, yet you still refuse to see the truth. Tell me, are you covering for him because you two have sunspeakable dealings?" Austin's patience had reached its limit. He had tolerated Langdon out of respect for his seniority within the Rhys family. But if Langdon insisted on pushing his luck, then Austin had no problem burning that bridge
Chapter 2586
“Your Highness, you mustn't speak such nonsense.” Langdon put on a righteous front.
He continued, “I've always prided myself on my integrity and never done anything dishonorable. I've never
betrayed the prince's trust or let the people down, and I have nothing to hide.”
“Such lofty words,” Austin scoffed. “If you have nothing to hide, why not let the enforcement team investigate?”
Langdon’s face tightened, and a flicker of unease crossed his eyes.
After all, what official didn’t have sskeletons in the closet? A full investigation would likely turn up
something, no matter how small. Even if the offenses weren't serious, the damage to his reputation would be
permanent.
With so many officials watching, Langdon couldn't afford to back down. If he did, he would lose his standing in
the political world-and his claim to integrity along with it.
“Go ahead and investigate.” He raised his chin and said confidently, “I've lived an honest life and never engaged
in anything illegal. No matter how deep you dig, you'll find nothing.”
“An honest life, huh? Let's see if you're really as innocent as you claim.” Austin turned to Axel. “Take the
enforcement team. Investigate Mr. Langdon thoroughly and don’t miss a thing.”
No one was perfect, and officials often cut corners or bent the rules for personal gain. The enforcement team
usually turned a blind eye to minor infractions. As long as no one caused major scandals or loss of life, most
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtoffenses were met with a slap on the wrist-nothing more.
But Langdon had crossed a line. His blatant disregard for right and wrong had angered Austin. If he didn’t put
Langdon in his place now, the man would only becmore brazen.
“Understood,” Axel replied with a curt nod and turned to leave.
“Hold on!” Langdon panicked as he hurried to stop him.
“What's wrong? Feeling guilty? Weren't you just putting up a tough front?” Austin sneered.
“W-What are you talking about?” Langdon swallowed hard and forced himself to stand firm. “I’m just worried
about being framed. What if someone fabricates charges against me? Look at what happened to Sir Prescott.”
His words were a last-ditch effort to cover his tracks. If Austin really did uncover incriminating evidence, Langdon
could claim he was being set up.
“So, you still believe Warrick was innocent? And that I've wrongfully accused him? Are these stacks of evidence
not enough to convince you?” Austin shot back.
“Evidence can be fabricated. Unless | see it with my own eyes or hear it from a credible witness, | refuse to
believe Sir Prescott would commit such heinous acts,”
Langdon insisted.
“You want to see for yourself? And you want credible witnesses? Fine. I'll give you both.” Austin gestured to Axel.
“Bring in the two prisoners. Let's hear what they have to say.”
“Yes, Your Highness,” Axel replied before hurrying off.
The room fell into a tense silence as the officials exchanged uneasy glances and whispered among themselves.
“Prisoners? Who are they?”
“The notice only listed Sir Prescott. There was no mention of other officials.”
“Could they be the witnesses Lord Austin was talking about?”
As Langdon listened to his colleagues’ murmurs, he maintained a calm facade, though his mind was in turmoil.
He had been arguing stubbornly with nothing but his silver tongue; he didn’t have the evidence to support them.
If Austin really produced solid evidence and credible witnesses, Langdon would be in serious trouble. 1
With that thought in mind, he spoke up again. “Your Highness, don’t think you can just trot out a couple of low-
level scapegoats and call them credible witnesses. Letmake it clear that the witnesses must hold significant
authority, or their testimony is worthless.”
“And what level of authority would satisfy you?” Austin shot back.
“At least a third-rank official,” Langdon answered firmly.
“I don’t have a third-rank official, but | do have two first-rank officials. See for yourself.” Austin gestured toward
the door.
All eyes turned to the doorway as two men in prison garb, their hair disheveled and shoulders slumped, were
escorted in by Axel. Their steps were sluggish, as if life had been drained from them.
Follow on mediaurdu.blogspot.comAt first, the gathered officials couldn't make out their faces. But the moment Austin spoke, the prisoners lifted
their heads.
A collective gasp rippled through the room. To their surprise, the two prisoners were Huxley and Percival.
Both men were first-rank officials of West Lucozia, and in terms of rank and status, they were even higher than
Langdon.
Unlike Langdon, who only held an advisory role, these two held significant authority.
No one had expected that these once-mighty officials-who once commanded respect and authority-would now
stand before them as prisoners.
What on earth had happened?
Chapter 2587
Sir Thatcher? Mr. Wentworth?” When Langdon saw their faces, his eyes went wide in disbelief. “You... How did
you two end up like this?” He was genuinely stunned. 2
Huxley and Percival were two of the most powerful figures in West Lucozia. They commanded respect wherever
they went, and even Langdon himself had to show them deference.
He never expected that they had fallen from their positions of prestige to becdisheveled prisoners
overnight.
“Austin! You've gone too far!” Recovering from his initial shock, Langdon’s fury erupted. He didn’t even bother
with titles anymore.
“Do you even realize what you're doing? These two men are pillars of West Lucozia and the prince’s most trusted
advisors. They're your elders and mentors. Yet, you tortured them like this. Are you even human?”
“He’s right,” someone chimed in. “They dedicated their lives to this country. What crdid they commit to
deserve such cruelty by Your Highness?”
The gathered officials erupted in outrage and condemned Austin’s actions. Loyal officials had been unjustly
imprisoned, and they refused to stand by and let it happen.
Amid the royal advisors’ indignant protests, Huxley and Percival exchanged bewildered glances.
What happened? Were these officials... actually fighting for them? Their support was appreciated, but wasn’t
their reaction a bit excessive?
After all, Huxley and Percival were criminals. Could those officials just voice their concerns properly instead of all
Follow on www.mediaurdu.blogspot.comthis shouting?
“Enough!” Axel bellowed. “How dare you insult His Highness! Do you have a death wish?”
His fury exploded at the disrespectful words, and he immediately reached for his sword. But Austin raised a hand
to stop him.
Pressing Axel’s weapon back into its sheath, Austin turned his gaze toward Langdon, his expression icy. “Think
before you speak. Have you ever wondered why | arrested them?”
“What else could it be?” Langdon shot back without hesitation. “Because you're an arrogant tyrant who
persecutes the innocent.”
First, Austin had issued a warrant for Warrick’s arrest. Now, he was imprisoning key officials. At this rate, West
Lucozia was doomed.
“Arrogant? Persecuting the innocent?” Austin scoffed. Then, he turned to the two prisoners and asked coolly,
“Why don’t you two explain? Did | wrongfully accuse you?”
“N-No, Your Highness.” Huxley shook his head vehemently,
“I deserve it. His Highness has shown mercy by sparing my life, and I'm grateful for his leniency,” Percival said in
a humble tone.
Compared to Huxley, Percival had gotten off lightly. At least, Percival and his family’s life were spared. He had
only been stripped of his position and was to be investigated. For him, it was a blessing in disguise.
“Sir Thatcher, Mr. Wentworth, did Austin threaten you?” Langdon frowned and continued, “Don’t worry. We're
here to seek justice for you. If you've been wronged, tell us, and I'll personally bring your case before the
prince.”
“I have no complaints, and | haven't been threatened. | made a huge mistake, and | deserve to die. | brought this
on myself, and | can’t blanyone else,” Huxley replied, looking grim.
He had committed so many serious offenses that execution was inevitable. Now, he just hoped his family
wouldn't be dragged down with him.
“Sir Thatcher, | know you're under pressure, but don’t be afraid. We're here to support you,” Langdon said
righteously.
“That's right. We'll prove your innocence, “the other royal advisors echoed.
“I am beyond redemption and deserve to die. Please stop speaking on my behalf,” Huxley said anxiously.
Why couldn't they just let him face his punishment in peace? If they kept stirring things up and provoked Austin
further, there was no telling if his family would be dragged down with him.
“I see what's going on. Austin tortured you, didn’t he? That's why you're so eager to take the blame.” Langdon’s
face lit up with revelation.
“You... You fools! Stop sticking your noses where they don’t belong!” Huxley exploded.
But to Langdon and the others, his outburst was nothing more than the desperate struggle of a man too terrified
to speak.
“Austin!” Langdon shouted, turning toward him. “What did you do to them? What made them fear you this
much?”
“I have done only what the law requires,” Austin replied evenly. “Percival was dismissed for corruption and abuse
Follow on mediaurdu.blogspot.comof power, though I chose not to pursue further charges because of the valuable information he provided.
“As for Huxley, he is guilty of heinous crimes-murder, abuse of power, and countless atrocities. His execution is
well justified, and the evidence against him is indisputable.”
As he spoke, Axel placed the stack of incriminating documents on the table for all to see.
But even after reviewing the documents, Langdon remained unconvinced. “This is absurd! Sir Thatcher is the
Commander of Militia. How could he possibly have committed such crimes? This is clearly a setup. This so-called
evidence is nothing but a lie.”
Austin let out a dry laugh at his stubbornness.
The evidence was all there-witnesses, testimonies, records-but Langdon refused to accept it and clung instead to
the idea of selaborate conspiracy.
Austin couldn't understand how someone so willfully blind held a position of power. If the government was filled
with people like Langdon, then it was for a major cleanup.
Chapter 2588
“Langdon, | can’t tell if you're playing dumb or if you really are that stupid.”
Though Austin was smiling, his eyes were cold.
He continued, “You asked for physical evidence, and | provided it. You asked for witnesses, and | gave you those
too. Now, with both evidence and testimony laid bare, and even the criminal confessing, what else do you want?”
“Hmph! The government is rife with corruption. I'm simply seeking justice and preventing you from wrongfully
killing the innocent.” Langdon still held his righteous stance.
Sof the royal advisors who had initially supported him now stayed silent. They could sense Austin’s rising anger and didn’t dare provoke him further.
At that instant, they had lost their confidence. As Austin had pointed out, the solid evidence was right before
them, and it was impossible to deny.
Langdon was a member of the Rhys family and Austin’s elder. He could afford to speak without a filter, but the
others couldn't.
If they truly angered Austin, the consequences would be severe at best, their properties being confiscated and at
worst, their entire bloodline wiped out. After all, Austin had already imprisoned Huxley and Percival. What chance
did they, mere minor players, have?
“Innocent? You? Or them?” Austin’s gaze swept over Langdon and the gathered advisors. His killing intent was
barely concealed. “Looks tolike none of you have clean hands.”

“What are you implying? First, you falsely accuse these officials, and now you want to cafter us too?”
Langdon raised his chin to project an image of unshakable righteousness.
The other advisors, however, avoided Austin’s gaze and were too afraid to speak.
“Langdon, out of respect for the Rhys family name, I'll give you one last chance.”
Austin took a deep breath to suppress his anger.
He continued, “If you and your men leave now and stop causing trouble, I'll forget today ever happened. All the
unpleasantness of today will be forgotten. But if you continue to stir up trouble, don’t blme for what comes next.”
“What's this? Are you threatening me?” Langdon scoffed. “I've lived my life with honor, and | don’t bow to
anyone's threats - not even to a punk like you. Even if Prince Rufus himself walked in here, I'd still hold my ground and never back down.”
“Well now, aren't you the picture of integrity?” Austin suddenly clapped, and a grin spread across his face. Since
you're so upright, let's see if there's any dirt on you.”
His smile vanished as he barked, “Axel! Take the enforcement team and search Langdon’s manor immediately. |
have reason to suspect him of corruption and harboring criminals.”
“Yes, Your Highness,” Axel responded crisply before striding out.
He had disliked Langdon for a long time. To him, Langdon was nothing more than a troublemaker who thrived on stirring chaos.
Austin had repeatedly shown them patience, but Langdon had only grown bolder. Now, Axel was determined to
turn Langdon’s hupside down during this search.
“Austin! Y-You're abusing your power.”
Seeing the enforcement team leave, Langdon panicked and shouted, “I haven't broken any laws or committed
any crimes. On what grounds are you searching my home?”
“Because right now, | run this castle. Is that reason enough for you?” Austin replied coldly.
“Only Prince Rufus has authority over the castle, not you. If you overstep, I'll go straight to him and report you,”
Langdon threatened.
“Go ahead and report me.” Austin was unfazed. “I'm eager to see what you'll manage to report.”
“You...” Langdon was at a loss for words.
Rufus had gone into seclusion, and even if Langdon wanted to complain, he wouldn't be able to reach him anytsoon.
The enforcement team was already on the move. If Langdon didn’t stop them soon, they might uncover
something truly incriminating.
“Fine. You win this time. Let's go.”
Langdon hesitated for a moment but ultimately gave in and prepared to leave with the other royal advisors. But
as he turned toward the door, they were stopped by a group of guards.

He turned and barked, “Austin, what is the meaning of this?”
“You think you can just waltz in here and leave whenever you please?” Austin said indifferently. “No one leaves
until the search is complete.”
“You... You're going too far!” Langdon’s face twisted with rage.
He had already backed down and let it, ready to walk away. But Austin wasn’t just pushing his luck-he was taking
things too far and trying to walk all over Langdon.
“If you have nothing to hide, what's the harm in a search? Or are you afraid we'll uncover sdirty secrets?”
Austin remained unmoved.
“Ridiculous! | have lived an upright life and have never done anything wrong. Don’t you dare slander me,”
Langdon shot back.
“Calm down. Let's just sit and wait,”
Austin replied nonchalantly. “We'll know just how honorable you are by nightfall.”
With that, he ignored the group, calmly taking his seat and sipping his tea as if nothing had happened.
The sudden storm had exposed the demons hiding in the shadows. At first, Austin had hesitated to take drastic
measures because he feared it would cause unrest. But now, he had changed his mind.
If these parasites weren't eliminated, who knew how much damage they could cause? This time, he was
determined to root out the rot, no matter how deep it went.

Chapter 2589
“And as for the rest of you, Ill be investigating each of you one by one.” Austin’s gaze moved past Langdon and landed on the royal advisors.
He sneered and added, “You'd better keep your records clean. If | find anything on any of you, I'll handle it by the book, and there won't be any mercy.”
At these words, panic swept through the room. Everyone exchanged nervous glances, and their hearts pounded like war drums.
As soon as they realized Austin was angry, they quickly fell silent. Langdon had always been making all the noise, but now they found themselves caught in the fire.
Anyone who'd held a position like theirs usually had sskeletons in the closet.
In the past, Rufus had been willing to turn a blind eye and let things slide. But now, Austin clearly wasn't
following the usual rules. If he decided to investigate thoroughly, most of them would likely find their careers and reputations destroyed.
“Mr. Rhys, what do we do now? Lord Austin seems dead serious about this.”
“That's right, Mr. Rhys. If he really starts investigating us, we're all in trouble.”
“We only chere because of you. You can't just let us take the fall.”
The royal advisors crowded around Langdon and spoke over one another in anxious voices.

They had cat his request and hoped to clear Warrick of any charges. If they succeeded, it would boost their reputation and earn them his favor.
But if they failed, they weren't willing to risk offending Austin, as that would be disastrous for them. It was clear that the situation was already beyond their control.
If they didn’t handle this carefully, none of them would walk away unscathed.
“You're all grown men-why are you panicking like this?”
The clamor grated on Langdon'’s already frayed nerves. He was frustrated enough as it was, and their complaints only made it worse.
“Mr. Rhys, you're in a position of power. Of course you're not worried. But the rest of us? One misstep, and it's over for us. And didn’t you hear? After Lord Austin is done investigating you, he’s coming for us. What are we supposed to do then?”
Several advisors who had been agreeing with Langdon earlier now started to grumble. If Landon hadn't been so stubborn and determined to confront Austin, they wouldn't be in this mess. In their eyes, they were the victims of his stubbornness.
“As royal advisors, how can you be so spineless?” Langdon’s tone was filled with righteous indignation. “Our role is to stand against injustice and tyranny. If a few threats are enough to make you cower, then you might as well go hand be farmers.”
The royal advisors’ expressions darkened.
All this talk of justice and tyranny was just empty rhetoric.
Everyone knew Langdon’s visit was motivated by self-interest. While he put on the facade of a loyal advisor, the truth was that he had a shady deal with Warrick.
If Warrick fell from power, Langdon stood to lose a great deal. That was why he had rallied the other advisors to pressure Austin in the first place.
At first, they had cwith the simple intention of doing a small favor and lending ssupport. But they never
expected Langdon to completely disregard their safety and continue to provoke Austin.
As a result, everyone needed to be investigated. In a way, Langdon had pushed them into a corner. Yet, he showed no remorse and had no intention of trying to salvage the situation. If this kept up, they were all doomed.
As the full weight of their situation hit them, the advisors began to think of ways to save themselves. Relying on Langdon was no longer an option, so they needed to find a way to appease Austin before it was too late.
Tticked by slowly. In the reception hall, Austin sat calmly, sipping tea and nibbling on snacks as if he hadn't a care in the world.
On the contrary, the advisors were trapped in the room, their anxiety mounting with each passing minute. As for Langdon, he maintained a composed exterior, but inside, he was a storm of anxiety. If Austin uncovered something incriminating, how would he defend himself?
Follow on sunniworlds.blogspot.com
Just then, a guard rushed in and reported, ” Your Highness, Mr. Cruz has returned.”
At those words, the advisors and Langdon felt their hearts leap into their throats. Whatever evidence that Axel Found would decide their fates.
“Send him in.” Austin set down a grape he had been about to eat. He remained seated, as steady and
unshakable as a mountain.
He was well aware of the enforcement team’s capabilities. Even if they didn’t uncover everything about
Langdon, they would have more than enough to take him down.
Two minutes later, Axel strode into the reception hall with several enforcement team members.
“Well? Did you find anything?” Austin asked indifferently.
“Yes, Your Highness. We have all the evidence we need to bring someone to justice.” Axel shot Langdon a mocking glance.
Langdon'’s eyes twitched, and his heart raced. He felt as though disaster was just around the corner.
Chapter 2590
“Oh? Really? Then, show them the evidence. Let everyone see for themselves.
“Austin said with a faint smile.
Langdon swallowed hard, and a cold sweat broke out on his forehead.
Had his entire past really been dug up in just half a day?
“First, | investigated Mr. Langdon’s assets and incsources,” Axel said, pulling out a stack of documents and placing them on the table.
He explained firmly, “His spending far exceeds his salary. He owns 18 luxury homes, dozens of high-end cars, and a private collection of gold, antiques, and famous paintings.
“Altogether, his assets are worth tens of billions. Given his salary, it would take him several thousand years of saving every penny to afford that. So | have to ask-where did all this money cfrom?”
The moment those words left his mouth, all eyes turned to Langdon.
Everyone knew he was corrupt, but no one expected it to be on this scale. If his fixed assets alone were worth billions, his liquid assets must be even more staggering.
“Langdon, is this what you call being upright and innocent?”
Austin flipped through the documents and barely skimmed them before tossing them at Langdon’s feet. His words landed like a punch to the gut.
“No! This is impossible. Someone is framing me!” Langdon barked, kicking the papers aside. But the forced
bravado in his voice did little to hide his unease. “I've always served with integrity. How could | possibly be Follow on mediaurdu.blogspot.com
involved in corruption? Every bit of this is a lie.”
“You didn’t even look at it. How do you know it's fake?” Axel sneered.
“Hmph! Everyone knows how your enforcement team twists the truth. Even the most innocent person would beca criminal in your hands. Your so-called evidence is completely unreliable,” Langdon snapped.
“So, you're saying none of these assets Axel mentioned belong to you?” Austin raised an eyebrow.
“Of course not! They have nothing to do with me. This so-called evidence is fake.” Langdon remained defiant.
“Okay. Since these assets aren’t yours, they'll be confiscated.” Austin glanced at Axel.
Axel grinned. “I'll send someone to take care of it.”
Langdon’s lips twitched, but he didn’t dare protest.
With tens of billions in assets built over the years, he would be lying if he said it didn't hurt when they were about to be confiscated. But for now, he had no choice but to swallow his bitterness in silence.
As long as he kept denying it, he was safe. But the moment he admitted it, he'd be finished.
To him, wealth was just something to be gained and lost. As long as he wasn’t caught, he could always rebuild is fortune through corruption.
“Besides these questionable assets, is there anything else?” Austin asked.
“The assets are just one part of it,” Axel replied. “Despite his age, Mr. Langdon has maintained quite an active personal life.
He has eight mistresses and has fathered 17 illegitimate children. Sare already adults, while others are just learning to walk. The annual cost of supporting them is no small sum.”
“Oh?” Austin’s gaze shifted toward Langdon as he spoke with a cold, insincere smile. “He’s nearly 70 and still has so many children. Impressive.” “You... You're spouting nonsense!”
Langdon’s face flushed red as he scrambled to defend himself. “I have only one wife and one son. Where are all
these illegitimate children coming from? This is pure defamation.”
“Mr. Langdon, you're truly heartless. You won't even acknowledge your own children?” Axel scoffed. “Why don’t we do a paternity test and see if you're telling the truth?”
“Nonsense! Why should | entertain such ridiculous accusations?” Langdon turned his head away in defiance.
“Since these women and children have nothing to do with you, our castle will take them in,” Austin said with a
faint smile. ” Axel, arrange for them to be brought to the castle, and ensure they are properly cared for-no mistreatment or negligence allowed.”
“Yes, Your Highness!” Axel responded immediately and began issuing orders to his subordinates.
“Hold on!” Seeing how things were escalating, Langdon could no longer hold back.
Losing his assets was one thing-there were always ways to embezzle more. But if his children were taken away,
that would be the end of his bloodline.
“What is it, Mr. Langdon? Do you have something to say?” Austin asked.
“There are plenty of social welfare programs. Is it really necessary to bring them to the castle?” Langdon frowned.
Follow on mediaurdu.blogspot.com
“That's not for you to worry about,” Austin replied with a smirk. “After all, they have nothing to do with you, right?”
“I...” Langdon was at a loss for words.
His assets were confiscated, and now his children were being taken from him. If this continued, he'd be left with nothing.
“Axel, continue.” Austin snapped his fingers.
“Yes, Your Highness!” Axel nodded and took out another stack of documents.
He continued, “Besides corruption, I've also uncovered Mr. Langdon’s dealings with various officials. Here are the ledgers detailing those transactions. Your Highness, please have a look.”
Axel handed the ledgers to Austin.
Austin skimmed through them before tossing the ledgers at Langdon’s feet. ” Care to explain? And don’t even try
to deny it-every entry here is in your own handwriting. Let's see how you talk your way out of this one.”
